“Without pain, we couldn’t know Joy.” ~ John Green, author of “The Fault in Our Stars”

If you are visiting my blog, chances are you were scouring the internet for information, advice and research about chronic pain and illness, specifically, migraine headaches; perhaps for yourself, or for a loved one struggling with this disease. I have suffered with “Chronic Daily Migraines” for 16 years, and I understand unmanageable, debilitating, life altering pain.

My life was transformed on December 5, 2012 with a Neurostimulator Implant surgery. There is little information about this surgery in the treatment of chronic migraines, and I hope that in sharing my story I can make an impact and help spread awareness about this treatment option. It is the experiences that lead up to this day that shaped my life and contributed to who I truly am today.

I am not cured. There is no cure for migraines. I still struggle with pain, but I have regained control of my life and most importantly, I have a life again.
I decided to start a blog because I have life experiences to share that I feel can help others struggling through their own migraine journeys. There is a stigma attached with migraine and many suffer in silence. You are not alone. You are worth it. And you matter.

If I can reach just one person and make a difference in their lives, then I will have achieved my goal. I also realized that writing about my health journey will help with my own personal healing. Writing is a passion of mine, and I have always enjoyed transforming my thoughts into words. A great deal of the information that I share has been painful to re-visit, but is essential for me to continue to move beyond the pain.

Proceed with caution. This is a personal story that includes the highest of highs, and the lowest of lows. My journey was long and harrowing, but I made it through the dark and into the light… And I believe that you can too!
